The Second Try

Never made it out to Brooklyn last night, after working a little too late. Besides that I had to carry two gigantor boxes home on the subway (never fun). Its the worst when you find a car with lots of room in it and upon entering discovering that the air conditioner is broken in it, as the door slides closed behind you. In this kind of heat I'm just sweating ALL the time. Now I have to head back tonight.
Today is my friend Pete's birthday. Happy Birthday Pete.
I won't be hitting his celebration tonight, as I will be sweeping up at the old place.
Debating whether or not to go see War of the Worlds. Its a great sci-fi story, but I'm sick of Tom Cruise and his Scientology crap. I read Dianetics several years ago as well as some other Scientology texts, going as far as checking out the introductory film at the Times Square "Church". I could see what was appealing about it. Hubbard definitely attracts one's ego (which is why Scientology has done so well in Hollywood I bet). It goes to show that a good storyteller can have some powerful sway. The film in which Kirstie Alley closes by saying that there really is no hope for anyone (without Scientology) did it for me. For all its talk about freeing and clearing the mind, it certainly is a constrictive environment that they create. To each his own. I certainly wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
